Today, I just want to pose a few questions. It's come to my attention that affiliation is completely overdone in the web design community. I don't quite understand it. So I'll ask you instead.
Why is it that
some people like these site owners list an 'Apply' option under affilition when it's closed? Do these people think that a '0' in brackets next to this word will help people figure out that it is closed? Shouldn't she simply remove the entire page? And if affiliation is really closed, why do people plan on and anticipate inviting someone? It's closed, is it not? And do they think the people being invited into affiliation by sites not as 'good' as their site would want to know the rules for keeping affiliation? Do these site owners think they are so high and mighty that everyone must know that no one can apply, yet anyone good enough to be invited must know the terms for affiliation when they probably haven't even or don't want to agree to it? What is the difference between Top Affilates and Affiliates? Aren't they essentially Affiliates and Link Exchanges? Why not just call it that rather than confuse me and other visitors? What on earth is wrong with these site owners?
My mind is full of jumbled questions, so probably none of this came out right. It's also in a large, icky paragraph. But how people deal with affiliation these days sickens me. After I get everything in order, I may re-post this on Acerbic. It won't be in question form.
But the bottom line is:
A.) If affiliation is closed, close it for goodness' sake.
B.) If you find a better site out there you want to affiliate with, but yourself in the underdog position. Who gave you the right to tell who you're inviting what they have to do to keep the affiliation? You're essentially applying to their site. Follow their rules and scrap your stupidity while you're at it.
C.) If you have Top Affiliates and Affiliates, call them Affiliates and Link Exchanges. It just makes you look like a hit whore.
And I'm off to do my English paper.
