2nd-Apr-2007 09:48 pm - Draft: Questions About Affiliation
Today, I just want to pose a few questions. It's come to my attention that affiliation is completely overdone in the web design community. I don't quite understand it. So I'll ask you instead.

Why is it that some people like these site owners list an 'Apply' option under affilition when it's closed? Do these people think that a '0' in brackets next to this word will help people figure out that it is closed? Shouldn't she simply remove the entire page? And if affiliation is really closed, why do people plan on and anticipate inviting someone? It's closed, is it not? And do they think the people being invited into affiliation by sites not as 'good' as their site would want to know the rules for keeping affiliation? Do these site owners think they are so high and mighty that everyone must know that no one can apply, yet anyone good enough to be invited must know the terms for affiliation when they probably haven't even or don't want to agree to it? What is the difference between Top Affilates and Affiliates? Aren't they essentially Affiliates and Link Exchanges? Why not just call it that rather than confuse me and other visitors? What on earth is wrong with these site owners?

My mind is full of jumbled questions, so probably none of this came out right. It's also in a large, icky paragraph. But how people deal with affiliation these days sickens me. After I get everything in order, I may re-post this on Acerbic. It won't be in question form.

But the bottom line is:
A.) If affiliation is closed, close it for goodness' sake.
B.) If you find a better site out there you want to affiliate with, but yourself in the underdog position. Who gave you the right to tell who you're inviting what they have to do to keep the affiliation? You're essentially applying to their site. Follow their rules and scrap your stupidity while you're at it.
C.) If you have Top Affiliates and Affiliates, call them Affiliates and Link Exchanges. It just makes you look like a hit whore.

And I'm off to do my English paper.

How I love wine.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
17th-Dec-2006 06:12 pm - 'Tis the Season...
"'Tis the Season to be jolly" - On one day, millions of kids will wail because they got a pair of socks instead of the $300 dollar gaming platform they wanted.

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly" - Houses slathered with bright lights, creepy snowmen, reindeer, and blown up Santy Clauses fill the streets.

Season of giving, happiness, thanksgiving, and whatnot? Yes, but only if you buy $300 jewelry on sale at Macy's.

I really hate this time of year. I can't walk around at night without killing my eyes and I can't shop or watch TV without being bombarded by commercials. Don't get me wrong; I'm not asking for some crazy, conservative Holiday Season. That would be even worse, but I think this time of year has progressively gotten more materialistic each year. It takes away from the simplicity of it all.

So what is this season then? I call it the Season of Irony.
11th-Dec-2006 02:29 am - LiveJournal Should Die
I hate LiveJournal. It made me re-enter my password about nine times during registration. First, it was too short. Then, the two didn't match no matter how carefully I typed it in. And then, I needed a number or symbol. I already feel cheated.

Why am I here? To join my fellow AB girls, of course. LiveJournal isn't useful for much else. (I gave into Lucy pressure.)

So, now, would anyone like to point me towards a site with professional LiveJournal layouts? Hah, an oxymoron. Professional and LiveJournal shouldn't be in a single sentence.
